The University of Memphis’s Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law is hosting their annual Race Judicata 5k. The race will benefit Memphis Area Legal Services (MALS). MALS provides free legal service to the elderly and low income families. In addition to registration proceeds benefiting MALS donations are also being accepted. The race will begin and end downtown at the Downtown Promenade located behind the Law School and the Cossitt Library.
During the race, from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm, on the second floor of the Cossitt Library there will be a “prototype preview” event where guests will be able to see the long-closed second-floor space and participate in idea stations in order to give their direct input about the future of the space. This preview is apart of the initiative, “Reimagining the Civic Commons, ” which Memphis was chosen to participate in that aims to improve the way that civic assets serve citizens. The effort targets the Cossitt Library, Memphis Park, Mississippi River Park, Court Square Park, Main Street and the connections between them.
